Busan Port and domestic short sea liners collaborate for mutual development.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) invited representatives of domestic short sea liners that use Busan Port, including KMTC and Korea Shipowners’ Association (KSA) officials, to a conference held on the 14th at a restaurant in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
BPA President Ki-tack Lim presented the current status of Busan Port operations and major plans of this year, and shared opinions with representatives of short sea liners that connect Busan Port with Japan, China, and Russia.
In addition, Lim introduced various measures, including the transshipment cargo volume incentive system reorganization, and reduction of port facility charges for vessels making simultaneous calls at North and New Ports, for the short sea liners that have contributed greatly to the development of Busan Port becoming the largest transshipment port in Northeast Asia. He also stated that BPA will draw up more supportive plans in the future. < Korea Shipping Gazette >
