Busan Port Authority (BPA) strengthened labor relations in order to reform its management. BPA declared labor-management joint cooperation and held an agreement ceremony for carrying out social responsibilities. BPA will reform benefits packages and debt management in order to gain confidence from the public in accordance with the government’s ‘Countermeasure for Normalizing Public Institutions.’
The joint declaration contains intensive BPA management reform measures as follows: △ 20~30% reduction of business operating expenditures and current expenses △ 54% budget reduction of benefits packages △ Amendment of 20 articles in the labor-management collective agreement to root out lax management.
In addition, BPA will: △ Freeze wages above the 2nd level employees and will comply with wage increase regulations of the government for below 3rd level employees (lower than 1.7%) △ Expand the achievement-based incentive system to establish performance oriented organization and to share economic burden.
Furthermore, labor and management held an agreement ceremony for social contribution through a major government project for job creation.
BPA president Lim and union head Bo-seong Seo said, “We will cooperate to become a trustworthy public corporation by eradicating lax management and normalizing public institutions.”
