A northern sea route that connects Sok Cho in South Korea, Hunchun in China and Zarubino in Russia, has been delayed again to open in March. Sok Cho is a city in Gangwon-do province in South Korea.
The route named 'Buk Bang' or 'Baekdu Mountain Route' was originally slated to start in March in 2012, but constant postponements in June, September, and December have stopped it from opening.
Furthermore, the service launch was scheduled for January 22nd this year, however the plans have been changed to March 14th, which has undermined the credibility and reliability of the carrier and administrative agency.
Dae A Maritime, which is in charge of this project, sent an official document containing the information to Sok Cho City Council and the CIQ organization.
A representative of Dae A Maritime explained, "The remodeling business on a vessel in Busan and the transfer of ownership have made slow progress. Plus, the repair works in the International Passenger Terminal in Sok Cho Port and Zarubino Port are overdue. So unavoidably we decided to postpone the opening." < 김보람 기자 brkim@ksg.co.kr >
