UASC is delighted to announce it was the recipient of the 'Environmental Responsibility'award and 'The Shipping Company of the Year' award at this year's Seatrade Maritime Awards for Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. UASC's Chairman H.E. Dr. Nabeel Al-Amudi was also recognized for his contribution to the industry, being presented with 'The Personality of the Year' award on the night.
These accolades are further acknowledgment of UASC's position as a pioneer in the industry in terms of providing eco-efficient transport solutions for its global client base.
Receiving the environmental responsibility award is a result of UASC's investment and expansion strategy, following the delivery of five 15,000 TEU and two 18,800TEU LNG-ready ultra-large container vessels since November last year.
UASC firmly believes that a long-term investment in eco-efficiency is central to its future growth, to the delivery of world-class service, and to maximizing value for money for its customers. UASC is pushing the boundaries of eco-efficiency standards to ultimately ensure that UASC's customers can achieve higher levels of environmental sustainability.
The outstanding environmental credentials of the newbuilds are firmly demonstrated through their performance as the CO2-output per TEU of the 18,800TEU vessels is 60% lower than a 13,500TEU vessel delivered just three years ago. Furthermore, the Company being ranked among the best performing carriers on CO2 emissions in a recent progress report by Business for Social Responsibility's (BSR) Clean Cargo Working Group, is further proof that environmental performance is at the heart of UASC's operations.
