Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Lim Ki-tack) assessed port productivity at 9 container terminals on April 27th and announced that PNC was chosen as 'Terminal of the Year.'
Cargo operation productivity of the port is a crucial factor when global shipping companies decide on ports of call. BPA has conducts annual productivity assessment in order to improve productivity at terminals based on the quantitative index-total berth productivity of each terminal and YoY container throughput increases and the qualitative index-efficient policy on yard operation and loading & unloading process at terminals.
In particular, the qualitative index was standardized and the assessment index was more specific this year in order to have a more objective evaluation.
PNC handled 3.901 million TEU last year, and recorded 18% growth year on year. In addition, PNC received a high score from appraisers for increasing productivity through efficient yard operation and an optimal unloading process.
Hyundai Pusan New-port Terminal (HPNT) was chosen as an 'Excellent Productivity Terminal in Busan Newport ; Dongbu Pusan Container Terminal (DPCT) was chosen as an 'Excellent Productivity Terminal in Busan North Port' : BNCT will receive a special award for its tremendous effort to improve port facilities.
BPA organized an assessment team with port & logistics experts, and evaluated port productivity comprehensively. Selected terminal operators will be awarded for their achievements and contributions, and given an opportunity to travel to advanced ports.
Park Chung-sik, BPA port operation team leader, stated, "BPA will endeavor to upgrade the cargo working productivity to make Busan Port a global hub."
