According to IPA, Incheon Port handled a total of 192,203 TEU in September (up 8.3%).
From January to September, IPA handled 1,728,527 TEU (up 9.7%).
Import/export cargoes accounted for 99,284 TEU (up 7.3%) and 91,625 TEU (up 12.7%), respectively, while transshipment cargoes were responsible for 1,280 TEU, compared to the previous year. Import cargoes accounted for 51.7% of the total trade volume.
Full container imports from China accounted for 118,585 TEU, increasing 9.5% year on year. Cargoes between Vietnam were 12,957 TEU, increasing 36.1% year on year.
KMTC handled 27,186 TEU, increasing 3.9% year on year at Incheon Port. Weidong handled 15,611 TEU, increasing 7.6%. Wan Hai Lines handled 13,079 TEU, increasing 40.8%. KMTC and Weidong's volume increases came from the far east. Southeast Asian trade volumes also increased significantly for Wan Hai Lines.
A spokesperson for IPA said, "We expect to comfortably achieve our target of 230 million TEU."
