Since awarded on August 15, 2014 from a buyer located in Hong Kong to construct two (2) 1,000-TEU container carriers, Korea shipbuilder Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd. (President & CEO Mr. Jae Yong Ahn), situated in Busan, announced once again, only four (4) days after the above newbuildings, that it has successfully and subsequently achieved new contracts for two (2) 1,000-TEU container carriers with domestic shipowner Namsung Shipping Co., Ltd.
The spokesman said that those new-buildings, performed on the basis of stable and smooth production and operation of the shipyard, despite significant challenges ailing the shipbuilding industry, attest to the design initially developed by Dae Sun that has substantial improvements, enhancements and developments in energy efficiency and environment friendliness in response to current market demands due to strengthening environmental and regulatory regulations and the increasing heavy burden of fuel costs. Additionally, one out of the four 1,000-TEU carriers from new orders last year from the Marshall Islands buyer will demonstrate the shipyard's performance with delivery in October of this year, two months earlier than the original delivery date.
Despite the stagnant charter market caused by the long term global recession, Dae Sun has successfully delivered over 100 feeder container vessels to numerous buyers. Furthermore, the spokesman said that Dae Sun is focusing on getting new orders with a capacity from 1,800-TEU to 2,500-TEU, which reflects such technologies and qualities.
Dae Sun has successfully built a total of ten vessels composed of eight state-of-the-art chemical tankers and two 80M Tuna Purse Seiners as of July this year, and immediately procured all Refund Guarantees relevant to those vessels with success. Its production stability and management showed in line with their long history of 69 years that the company is continuing to produce positive results.
