OOCL announced it will charge a congestion surcharge at transatlantic trade ports.
The company advised that effective October 1st, 2012, a Port Congestion Surcharge will be levied on all shipments originating or destined to the United
States as follows in the event of a slowdown or work stoppage at any US Port(s).
- Transatlantic Eastbound & Westbound – Tariff Rule 4-T
A Port Congestion Surcharge of $600/TEU; $750/FEU and $950/45' container will be assessed to all shipments due to labor unrest, including, but not limited
to, strikes, lock-outs, work stoppages, or slowdowns at any U.S. port(s). < Korea Shipping Gazette >
