Minister Kim meets Namibian prime minister
On March 26, a Korean bidding delegation for the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, headed by Mr. Kim Sung-jin, Minster for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, met the Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula as part of the effort to promote and seek support for candidate city Yeosu and Korea.
Minister Kim delivered a letter written by the South Korean President Roh, Moo-hyun and made a cordial request for support from Namibia.
Mr. Kim highlighted that the theme of the Expo, ?iving Ocean and Coast?is a timely subject when challenges involving the environment have surfaced as significant agendas around the world.
In this regard, the Namibian Prime Minister replied that Yeosu is dealing with a very critical subject in the view of the droughts Namibia is experiencing.
He also said that Namibia, a country with long neighboring coastlines, has a high interest in conserving the marine environment and hopes exchange and cooperation between the two nations will be further reinforced.
Mr. Kim presented Korean programs such as an invitation of overseas fishery trainees, adding that Korea is keen to provide support to Namibia.
Besides the marine and fisheries fields, the two nations exchanged views on the sectors of Namibia? textile industry, tourism, mineral and energy resources, agreeing to further comprehensively expand the scope of exchange and cooperation relations.
