Korea submits Plan for Yeosu World Expo to BIE
Through the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in France, the 2012 Yeosu World Expo Bidding Committee submitted to the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) a plan concerning a scheduled on-site inspection describing conditions and details for holding the world exhibition in Yeosu.
The submitted document includes not only details such as the theme of the Expo, significance of the hosting, preparation for transportation and accommodations, specific plan for exhibition site arrangement, but also comprehensive statements on the desire, passion, and environment for organizing the Expo. In advance of the on-the-spot survey by a team from the BIE scheduled on April 9, 2007, the document will be provided for member states of the BIE.
The 2012 Yeosu World Expo Bidding Committee plans to launch a Survey Preparation Task Force to facilitate the inspection activities by the BIE to be conducted in Seoul and Yeosu for five days from Apr 9 to 13, 2007. The site inspection is the most critical event ahead of the BIE General Assembly in December where member nations of the BIE will determine the final venue for the Expo by vote.
The Task Force is constituted with officials from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the South Jeolla Provincial Office, and the Yeosu City Hall, and is fully capable to facilitate to arrange a schedule of the BIE inspection team and prepare for major presentations during its visit in April.
