Singapore volumes on the up
Singapore's PSA has reported a 16 percent increase in domestic container throughput in the first two months of 2007.
PSA has seen a 16 percent increase in container throughput.
The state-owned port operator said it handled 4.14 million TEU between January and February 2007 versus the 3.56 million TEU seen last year.
In July 2006 the company announced that it would no longer be providing throughput figures for its foreign terminals.
Outside of Singapore, PSA has operations in Belgium, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, Korea and Thailand.
Meanwhile, fellow Singaporean terminal operator Jurong Port has reported another rise in container volumes for the first two months of 2007.
Between January and February 2007 Jurong Port handled 153,000 TEU. This is 7 percent up on the 143,000 TEU handled in the corresponding period last year.
