Korea and Japan to Undertake Full Cooperation on Logistics
Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Kim, Sung-jin met his counterpart Mr. Fuyushiba Tetsuzo, Minister for Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Jan 11, 2006 in Korea and agreed to reinforce the close relations between the two nations with an aim to establish the seamless logistics network in Northeast Asia, said the MOMAF.
At the meeting, Minister Kim drew the attention to the compliance with the agreement made at the China-Japan-Korea Ministerial Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics such as mutual access of trailer chassis among Korea, Japan and China. Additionally, Mr. Kim cordially requested Japan to consider an issue concerning the mutual access of live fish transport cars and special purpose vehicles in the same context as the trailer chassis matter.
On Mr. Kim? comments, Minister Fuyushiba expressed his firm willingness toward realization of the seamless logistics system in Northeast Asia through collaboration with Korea. With regard to the trailer chassis, he commented that Japan would actively review the matter as agreed at the Logsitics Ministers?Meeting. Mr. Fuyushiba also said that the 2nd China-Japan-Korea Ministerial Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics is slated to be convened in Octover 2007 following a working group meeting.
The first China-Japan-Korea Ministerial Conference on Maritime Transport and Logistics was held on Sept 7, 2006 in Korea, where the three parties agreed to develop this meeting as an official channel for tri-nations?logistics cooperation.
The two-day visit by Minister Fuyushiba was made in order to strengthen amicable cooperation between the two countries after his taking office as the Minister on Sept 26, 2006.
