Shanghai handles 19.78million TEUs this year
The Chinese government reports that Shanghai, the biggest port on China? mainland, retained its status as the world? third-largest container terminal port this year.
The global top 20 shipping companies have opened routes in the city, with 30 international routes added this year and a monthly navigation frequency of 2,173. The routes cover more than 300 ports in 200-plus countries and areas.
In the first 11 months of this year, Shanghai handled a total of 19.784 million TEUs (20-foot-equivalent units) of containers, an increase of 19.7% from a year earlier, with a record of 20 million TEUs expected by the end of the year.
