Hanjin Shipping establishes local company in India
Hanjin Shipping announced on October 9 it has established an independent local company in India.
Hanjin invested in its new local company and will reshuffle its sales organization.
This establishment in India is aimed at securing a strategic position in large Indian market where there is strong growth potential and efficient operations.
Recently, Hanjin Shipping began operatating an intra-Asia service and an Asia-Europe service through Mumbai and Nhava Sheva and expects to start a new Singapore-India-US East coast service.
In recent years, container traffic in India han grown 15~20percent annually, and Hanjin Shipping expects to handle about 80,000TEU of cargoes in the Indian region.
This cargo volume is up from the last year’s 69,000TEU at 16percent.
Hanjin Shipping has already established local companies in Valencia in Spain and Hochiminh in Vietnam last year, as well as Bangkok, Thailand and Colombo, Sri Lanka this year.
