HMM boasts maximum carrying capacities between Asia and U.S
Hyundai Merchant Marine is able to boast the maximum carrying capacity amongst Asia and North America bound fleets by replacing 5,551 TEU vessels with five 6,500 TEU container vessels.
HMM said on June 25 that in Asia and the North West Coast of the U.S. it deployed the world's largest container vessel, the 6,500 TEU 'Hyundai Patriot', delivered by Hyundai Heavy Industries. It started to replace old vessels with 6,500 TEU vessels starting with the Hyundai Kingdom this past February, and ending with the Hyundai Patriot, positioning all five of the 6,500 TEU vessels in Asia ? U.S trades.
As the new 6,500 container vessels are operating in Asia and U.S. trade, it put the 5,551 TEU vessels into Asia and Europe trade. With increased vessel capacities in these U.S. and Europe trade routes, it will be introducing new services.
"By getting larger vessels, New World Alliance can transport an additional 10,000 TEU every week in Asia and North America bound trade, establishing itself as a strong competitor in these trade routes," said a working level official at HMM.
