TMM Lines Upgrades Service between Central/South America and Asia
TMM Lines is upgrading its Central/South America and Asia Service to o
ffer a direct link between two of its most important markets. Shanghai
has also been added as a direct call on the service.
Transit times have been reduced significantly by the introduction of t
he direct service. In the past, TMM Lines has relayed cargo at Manzani
llo, Mexico.
The service commences on May 21, when the Julia Oldendorf sails eastbo
und from HongKong. Five 1,200 teu ships will operate on the service, w
ith sailing once every two weeks.
"We have been in this trade for more than 20 years and have built up a
strong customer base in both Asia and Central/South America" says Jua
n Manual Gonzales, Vice President of TMM Lines. We are sure that our d
irect service will attract new customers, especially the importers and
exporters of perishable products from South America.
With the introduction of Shanghai in the schedule, TMM Lines is signif
icantly improving its service to customers on the Chinese mainland, wh
o were previously served via feeders through Hong Kong.
The market potential in China is obviously huge, so we want to offer o
ur customers the best possible links and transit tiems, says Mr.Gonzal
es.
Sample transit times -such as Shanghai to Manzanillo 17 days and Pusan
to Puerto Calders 19 days- show that this new service will offer some
of the fastest times on the trade.
The full port rotation is Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Pusan, Los A
ngeles, Manzanillo, Puerto Quetzal, Puerto Caldera, Guayquil, Callao,
Iquique, San Antonio, Callao, Buenaventura, Puerto Caldera, Sallna Cru
z, Manzanillo, Los Angeles, Kaohsiung.
