[ DaimlerChrysler Commissions Schenker to Supply of A-CLASS]
DaimlerChrysler has commissioned Stinnes subsidiary Schenker to supply
the Brazilian plant Juiz de Fora with the parts needed for the produc
tion of the A-Class. In close cooperation with DaimlerChrysler, Schenk
er Automotive Logistics has implemented an extensive Supply-Chain-Mana
gement Project to ensure the delivery of parts just in time. Schenker
Automotive Logistics is a division of Schenker International Deutschla
nd GmbH which has developed many innovative logistic concepts and has
proved to be a competent partner for the automobile industry and its s
uppliers for more than ten years.
Schenker Automotive Logistics uses its own offices to organize and con
trol the supply of parts for automobile plants in the USA, Mexico, Bra
zil, South Africa, China and other countries.
Schenker is using its Bremerhaven Consolidation Center to consolidate
assembly parts from all over Europe for the plant in Brazil. Here part
s are commissioned, packed, paletted and loaded into containers. The a
greed scope of performance also includes the management of empties and
packing material. On arrival in Brazil, the automotive parts are clea
red, deconsolidated and put into temporary storage. The parts are deli
vered to the assembly line by Schenker and their Brazilian joint ventu
re partner Multiterminais as they are required.
