CEVA Logistics has signed a three year agreement with Hankook Tire Italy, a leading global tire manufacturer.
CEVA will manage the storage, distribution and reverse logistics for Hankook tires at its hub in Somaglia, near Lodi, Italy, within a dedicated area of 6,000 sq m. CEVA will distribute automobile, light truck and truck tires across northern Italy and will manage a shuttle service to Hankook Tire’s main warehouse in Rome, which serves the central and southern areas of Italy.
CEVA will handle 500,000 pieces across 400 product lines each year, using two incoming and several outgoing vehicles each day to reach dealers and retailers in the north of the country as well as Hankook’s site in Rome. CEVA will also manage reverse logistics for Hankook tires, guaranteeing the highest efficiency and punctuality in the collection of returns.
Serena Seo, Logistics Manager of Hankook Tire Italy, said, “We are pleased to have signed this partnership with CEVA as we believe that the logistics operator will be able to guarantee highly efficient services which will allow us to optimize our supply chain processes with a consequent cost reduction.”
Fabio Cecchettini, CEVA’s Automotive Sector Leader, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “We are proud that Hankook Tire has chosen CEVA as a strategic partner for their logistics activities. We are well aware of the challenges that characterize this market and have developed cutting-edge solutions to manage storage, distribution and reverse logistics activities in an impeccable and fast way, which is essential in this sector.”
A spokesperson for CEVA said that the partnership further consolidates CEVA’s presence in the automotive sector, in particular the tire segment. Over the years, the logistics operator has developed extensive expertise in the automotive market and its awareness of critical aspects, such as very short delivery times and complex supply chains, was a key factor in Hankook’s decision. < Korea Shipping Gazette >
