Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) announced it has delivered over 100 million tons of ships in the company’s 40 years of business.
The Korean shipbuilder noted it has handed over a total 1,805 ships, including container ships, LNG and LPG carriers, and drill ships, to many global owners. The ships include 510 container ships 351 oil tankers, 343 bulk carriers and 124 product carriers. The vessels were delivered to 49 different countries.
The company held the christening ceremony to celebrate its historical delivery record in Ulsan shipyard on March 8. HHI has made the new global record with the delivery of the ‘COSCO FAITH’. The ship’s capacity is over 13,000 TEU.
Mr. Jae-Sung Lee, CEO of HHI, Mr. Kyle Washington, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Director of Seaspan, Mr. Ma Zehua, Executive Vice President of COSCO attended at the ceremony.
Mr. Jae-Sung Lee said, “We have marked a new era in the industry with a new world record. This shows we have the greatest technology for ship building with a competitive edge.”
