DSME achieves earning target contract with Chevron
South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME President & CEO Sang-Tae Nam) has confirmed that they passed their target for annual output.
The company’s order book is full at USD 11 billion after signing the USD 1.4 billion contract with Chevron to build an ocean platform. Also, DSME won a USD 550 million contract with an unnamed offshore oil drilling company to build a drillship.
The platform will be constructed in Okpo shipyard by 2014 and delivered to Wheatstone field near Onslow, Australia. DSME undertook this project as a 'turnkey' system, handling all the design, purchasing, construction, and installation.
Until now, Chevron has taken contracted 10 ocean platforms and 1 Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) from DSME, including 8 delivered platforms and FPSOs.
Sang-Tae Nam, CEO and President of DSME, said “Over the last 30 years, we have established a good rapport with Chevron in the offshore business. Through this project, we once again proved the world's best turnkey system ability.” DSME has obtained 44 orders worth USD 12 billion this year. <김보람 기자 brkim@ksg.co.kr>
