Wan Hai Lines attends the Opening ceremony of Cai Mep
Wan Hai Lines (WHL) set up a new joint terminal operation company, Tan Cang Cai-Mep International Terminal Company Ltd. (TCIT) with Saigon New Port Co. (SNP), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Hanjin Shipping (HANJIN).
The TCIT Opening ceremony held on Mar 16, the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai and Government officials were present in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Representatives of the shareholders of TCIT also attended for celebration.
The new terminal with total container quay area of 40 hectares comprises 2 berths. The terminal is 590 m in length and 14 m deep and is capable of accommodating 110,000 dwt ships and handling one million TEU throughput per year.
Cai- Mep International Terminal marks a new milestone in global logistic planning. It helps to extend the Intra-Asia shipping network to connect the rest of the world.
Vietnam has been devoted to the internationalization in the past years and the outstanding achievement is impressive for all countries in the world. Cai-Mep area might be a container service hub, which will become a unique gateway to bring about the opportunity and prosperity in coming years.
