KEBT shows best terminal productivity in 2009

Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on March 12 that KEBT won the terminal of the year award, and Uam Terminal, a special award in the comprehensive productivity evaluation conducted on 8 terminals of Busan Port in 2009.

KEBT handled 2.655 million TEU in 2009, a 16% increase year on year while most of the other terminals saw their trade volume decreasing amid the global economic recession last year. On the other hand, it is said that Uam Terminal got high marks in its efforts to attract new shipping companies and become a customer-oriented terminal.

The BPA evaluation board consisting of port and logistics experts gave the general review that the efforts of the terminals to improve their services had been outstanding though the Gross Berth Productivity (GBP) of Busan Port had decreased because of decreased calls by shipping companies affected by the global recession. The terminals and employees of merit will be rewarded and privileged to pay a visit of advanced ports.

An official of BPA said that BPA would do the best to boost Busan Port? competitiveness, adding that BPA along with terminal operators set up a regime improvement board for productivity.
