New Gamman, granted safe terminal certification
New Gamman Container Terminal was granted a safe terminal certification because it had operated the terminal without any accidents for 2,500 days.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on December 26, that Dongbu Busan Container Terminal, operator of New Gamman Terminal, was given a certification plaque to prove its zero accidents accomplishment target by the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency. New Gamman Terminal has implemented a Aero Accidents Campaign for the last 7 years since it started operation in 2002 and has accomplished 2,500 accident-free days which is 10 times longer than the normal target period.
The campaign in which both management and workers have taken part was designed to secure a safe workplace by raising safety awareness.
The terminal is the first to get the certification among the terminals at Busan Port, which is given after reviewing documents and an examination.
A BPA official said that it would do its best along with terminal operators and workers to make sure that the port is safe and accident-free.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
