Report to IAPH Officers meeting in Hamburg on the preperation for IAPH in Busan
Busan Port Aurthority (BPA) rolled up its sleeves to prepare for the 2011 IAPH conference in Busan. BPA said that its president, Roh-Kitae, took part in IAPH Officers meeting held in Hamburg on November 16 and reported to the IAPH Officers on how the preparations for the 2011 IAPH conference in Busan are going.
The conference, which will be held for 5 days starting on May 22, 2011, is expected to consist of 5 sections under the title of embracing Our Future - Expanding Our Scope globalization after the economic crisis, climate change and ports, strategic approaches for a logistics hub, technical innovation for port management, and city and port.
Mr. Roh consulted the IAPH Officers on the main theme of the conference, conference hall and other programs and asked for active participation and assistance.
On the other hand, Mr. Roh visited Hapag Lloyd, the largest shipper in Germany, and expressed his gratitude for the use of Busan Port, awakening the merits of Busan Port as a transshipment base. On November 17, he also visited Hamburg Sud, which increased its transshipment cargo more than 10 % at Busan Port this year, to discuss ways to expand the number of calls at Busan Port. On the way back to Korea, he visited UASC and ESL in Dubai and ZIM in Israel and presented the current status of Busan Port and its development plans. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
