Last chance to move in the logistics complex of NCT

Following the complete opening of North Container Terminal of New Port, the work to select tenant companies to move in the hinterland logistics complex of the terminal is reaching final stage. Busan Port Authority (BPA) placed a public notice to attract potential tenant companies to the final phase 4 site on its homepage on October 23. Because this has been the first since BPA selected the tenant companies for phase 3 site in 2007 and is the last one to move in the complex, lots of domestic and foreign logistics companies are expected to send applications.

The site to be rented this time is 225.000㎡ of the total 1.2 million ㎡ of North Container Terminal? hinterland logistics complex. The site consists of the third phase 20,000 ㎡, which was completed last year, and the fourth phase 205,000 ㎡, which will be completed at the end of next year. Tenant companies, which are remitted to foreign investment companies with less than 33,000 ㎡ on the hinterland logistics complex of New Port, can enjoy the regal status guaranteed by the law governing the designation and operation of a free economic zone.

BPA is going to hold a business presentation for potential tenant companies on November 2 and receive applications until December 22. The applications will then be fairly evaluated by an evaluation committee consisting of experts. The tenants will enjoy various benefits such as tax reductions and low rents.

Nine logistics companies including BIDC are operating their logistics centers on the first and second phase hinterland logistics complexes of North Container Terminal at New Port. On the other hand, 13 domestic and foreign logistics consortiums including New Port International Logistics are busy to open their logistics centers on the phase 3 hinterland logistics complex.

If the hinterland logistics complex of North Container Terminal goes in full swing, new cargo creation amounting to 858,000 TEU and 2,000 new jobs are expected to arise. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
