[ SCHENKER SETS UP GLOBAL TENDER MANAGEMENT CENTER ]
Customers of Schenker International sill receive detailed and extensiv
e offers even more quickly in future. On June 1, 1998 the company open
ed a “Global Tender Management Center” in Essen in which the experie
nce gathered from dealing with tenders worldwide has been grouped.
In setting up this new competence center, Schenker Internarional is fu
rther extending the quality of its services connected with global airf
reight, seafreight and logistic products. The main objective here is t
o reduce the reaction time required when dealing with tenders and offe
rs while at the same time cutting administration and communication cos
ts by grouping offers internally. For this reason the key account mana
gers in all subsidiaries throughout the world have beem directly integ
rated into this Global Tender Management: Inquiries from national and
multinational customers are passed on to the center in Germany. The st
aff in Essen make sure that regional know-how from the entire Schenker
organization is drawn on when preparing the offer and that the collea
gues in the subsidiaries receive maximum support when dealing with the
customer.
When organizing this Global Tender Management, Schenker can call on ex
isting competence in the area of information technology as well as on
its own global communication network. Schenker is active in over 700 l
ocations in approx. 100 countries as a provider of logistics services
of the entire company more stringently towards the requirements of the
customers. Helmut Kaspers in Essen is responsible for the implementat
ion of this concept on a worldwide basis.
