Maersk Line increase Europe/Asia rates
Maersk Line announced that it plans to increase container freight rates from Europe to Asia.
The General Rate Increase will be USD 25 per TEU totalling USD 50 per TEU effective March 1st and April 1st 2009 to ensure sustainable freight rates.
uring the 4th quarter of 2008, the industry experienced declining freight rates in the Europe to Asia trade. A trend that has continued into 2009? Maersk said. Maersk added there are now indicators that demand is increasing due to amongst others the weak Sterling and Euro.
