AES export Processing enforcement with penalty
From February 1, 2009, U.S. Customs Border and Protection (CBP) will impose penalties for all export cargo on vessels that load at U.S. ports that are in violation of the Mandatory Automated Export System (AES) Final Rule published by the U.S. Bureau of the Census on June 2, 2008.
Under the rule, exporters must file Electronic Export Information using AES and provide proof of an AES Citation Number (ITN), Exemption Legend or AES Post Departure Citation to the carrier 24 hours before the cargo is loaded. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
