310 weekly services operate at Busan Port
September 24th, 2008, Busan, Korea - There are 310 weekly services operated by 78 shipping lines, foreign and domestic, at Busan Port, the world's busiest container port.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) said on September 24th that it conducted research targeting shipping companies to see how many container services are operated out of Busan Port.
This research was targeted for 15 domestic liners and 63 foreign shipping liners handling more than 1,000 TEU annually by deploying regular container vessels to Busan Port.
According to a result, a total of 310 weekly services, an increase of 9 services over the previous year, operate at Busan Port.
By region, 68 weekly services are operated in Southeast Asia (21.9%), up 13 from the year before, 57 services to Japan (18.4%), 46 services to China (14.8%), 38 services to North America (12.3%), and 31 services to South America (10.0%). There are also 22, 17, 16, and 7 services to Europe, Australia, Russia, and the Middle East, respectively.
In particular, more than 77% of container services operate in Southeast Asia, Japan, China and the US, indicating Busan Port is clearly becoming the hub port of choice for Northeast Asia.
