CKYH Alliance to modify Trans-Pacific Loops as pendulum service
The CKYH Alliance (COSCON, “K”LINE, Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping) announced a service modification on PSW2, PSW4, PSW5 and Y-PNW by adjusting routings and calling port combinations in Trans-Pacific loops. They will also link the current K-PNW to AES-2 in order to create a pendulum operation covering North America, Asia and North Europe.
With these modifications, the CKYH Alliance aims not only to streamline the TPS service alignment, but also to reduce CO2 emissions with optimal navigation speeds. This is one of the action plans being implemented from the consensus of the CKYH Summit Meeting held in Okinawa last month.
Details of service structures are as follows, and will be effective as of the end of June, 2008:
PSW2 (from 5,500 TEU vessels to 4,300 TEU vessels): Hong Kong - Yantian - Kaohsiung - Keelung - Los Angeles - Oakland - Keelung - Kaohsiung - Hong Kong
PSW4 (combines with PSW5 using 5,500 TEU vessels):
Shanghai - Ningbo - Qingdao - Los Angeles - Oakland - Kwangyang - Shanghai
Y-PNW (adjusts calling ports and focuses on Taiwan and central China markets):
Kaohsiung - Shanghai - Ningbo - Pusan - Tacoma - Vancouver - Kaohsiung
K-PNW/AES2 (links as a pendulum service using thirteen 5,500 TEU vessels):
Kobe - Tokyo - Nagoya - Hong Kong - Singapore - Port Said - Rotterdam - Felixstowe - Le Havre - Port Said - Singapore - Hong Kong - Yantian - Xiamen - Nagoya - Tokyo - Tacoma - Vancouver - Portland - Kobe
Separate from the above service rationalization, it has also been confirmed by the CKYH Alliance that a series of strategies for better service quality will be made in order to successfully meet customer requirements. The CKYH Alliance plans to further discuss and study the TPS services adjustment plan to cater to customer requirements.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
