Tenant companies moving to New Port Distripark
As global logistics companies move into New Port Distripark, Busan Port is transforming itself into a high value-added port, and diversifying its business from a simple cargo oriented port.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced that 3 consortiums composed of foreign and domestic companies are now doing their business with them, and an additional 6 consortiums will start doing business with them by the end of this year in the New Port North Container Terminal’s Distripark. Among the companies doing business in the New Port Distripark, BIDC, a consortium of Daewoo Logistics, DAT-Japan and Fukuoka Transportation in the Phase-1 distripark, became benchmarks for logistics companies both domestically and abroad. The company assembles Japanese furniture and then exports it.
On the other hand, by the time the ongoing construction of phase-3 distripark is completed, 13 consortiums including Hanjin and the Kerry Logistics consortium are set to move into the distripark.
If these logistics companies in the distripark at North Container Terminal go into full operation, they are expected to create 16 million tons of cargoes and more than 2,000 new jobs.
The North Container Terminal Distripark designated as Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone, provides moderate rent and various tax cuts.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
