Busan Port building competitiveness

Amid fierce competition from ports across the world, Busan Port is rolling up its sleeves increase its competitiveness. BPA announced on April 30 that it ordered services to set up strategies to boost competitiveness.

The services undertaken by the Korea Maritime Institute and Korea Maritime University will analyze internal and external factors affecting Busan Port and explore ways to maximize cooperation between North Port and New Port for productivity boosts through improved operational efficiency. In addition, they will look for ways to optimize Busan Port? management and operation, including measures to stabilize stevedoring rates and revise container terminal rent prices. (Container terminal rent rose by 1.7 % compared to that of last year and the 2009 rate will be decided based on the results of the report.)
