Newly established service route between Busan Port and Dafeng Port
As Busan Port and Dafeng Port signed MOU last month, a new container service line was established and a container vessel from Dafeng Port will call at Busan Port on April 22nd.
Busan Port Authority(BPA) said that Centrans Shipping International Marine established the new service route between ports of Busan and Dafeng with deploying 704 TEU container vessel, VEGA SONJA calling Sinsundae container terminal of Busan Port once a week. VEGA SONJA loaded 400 TEU at 12:30 p.m on April 22nd and uploaded Chinese bound container cargo.
Dafeng Port, designated as an international trade port last year, has had many difficulties in handling cargo created in Jiangsu Province which has been handled at Shanghai Port suffering from the lack of port facilities and the increase of logistics cost and time.
Korea is one of the major three trading partner for Jiangsu Province, recording US $306 million of trade volume. Particularly, electronics, petrochemicals, and vehicles are main trading products, bringing more cargo to the Port of Busan.
Centrans said that with the help of new container service line, its U.S bound or Europe bound cargo handled at Shanghai port will be handled at Busa Port, reducing logistics cost. BPA has made efforts to increase container service lines with small and medium sized ports in Japan, China, and Russia. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
