New World Alliance, Yang Ming to Expand Relationship in Asia-Mediterra
nean Trade

Yang Ming Line and members of the New World Alliance-APL, HMM and MOL
recently announced plans to further their cooperative relaionship in t
he Asia Mediterranean trade.
In March, the four carriers announced that Yang Ming would purchase sp
ace on the New World Alliance’s weekly service between major Asia por
ts the Middle East and four Mediterranean ports. Beginning later this
year, the four carriers will coordinate vessel schedules and share sp
ace on the weekly service. Yang Ming will be participating in the ser
vices as a vessel operator.
In a joint statement, the four carriers said “this cooperative arrang
ement between Ynag Ming Line and members of the New World Alliance ref
lects our common commiment to responsible and officient utilization of
ship capacity while maintaining the highest levels of service for our
customers.”
Members of the New Alliance coordinate some 100 containership in all t
he major East-West contianer trades.
