Like the ?ap Palliser? which was christened in Tauranga, New Zealand, the ?ap Pasley?is one of a series of five identical charter vessels owned by the Claus-Peter Offen shipping company that are to be deployed in the Hamburg Sud Group? liner service between Asia and Australia/New Zealand.

Sponsor of the ?ap Pasley?is Carol Teys, wife of Alan Teys, one of the leading Australian meat exporters. The name ?ap Pasley?is taken from the cape which forms the western end of the Great Australian Bight.
