FEFC lines moved 9.5million TEU from Asia to Europe in 2007
The Far Eastern Freight Conference reported Thursday that its members?container volume in the westbound Asia to Europe and Mediterranean trade increased 19 percent in 2007 to 9.51million TEU, up from 7.99million TEU in the previous year.
The FEFC? eastbound figures only go up to November but show an increase of 5.3 percent after 11 months to 3.05million TEU.
The 17 carriers of the FEFC are estimated to control roughly just over two-thirds of the available Asia/Europe and Med vessel capacity.
They are : ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, K Line, Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., MISC Berhad, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Safmarine, Yang Ming and Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.
