New World Alliance to Start Joint Cooperation in Asia-Mediterranean Tr

Members of the New World Alliance(APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine CO., an
d Mitsui O.S.K.Line) recently announced plans to share vessel space in
the Asia-Mediterranean trade. In February, the New World launched a w
eekly service between major Asia ports, the Middle East and five Medit
erranean ports, using eight vessels with an average capacity of 2413 t
wenty-foot equivalent units(TEUs). Beginning next month, Yang Ming Lin
e will purchase space on this service.
The New World Alliance is also looking into the possibility of further
space-sharing cooperation in the Asia-Mediterranean trade in the futu
re.
Member of the New World Alliance coordinate some 100 containerships in
all the major East-West container trades.
