Longest container ship since Incheon Port opening sets anchor
At about 275m in length, the Sky Lucky is longest container ship to weigh anchor at Incheon Port and attracted much attention.
Incheon Port Authority (IPA) reported the longest container ship to enter Incheon Port arrived on September 8 and departed the port the following day.
The Sky Lucky measures 274.76m in length, 30.5m in width and is the longest container ship to ever enter Incheon Port.
Presently, a 3,300 TEU class (240m in length) Iranian ship serving in Middle Eastern routes holds the title of having the largest carrying capacity among ships calling at Incheon Port.
The Sky lucky, which belongs to SYMS Lines, will serve in the route from Incheon Port via Gwangyang, Busan and on to Hong Kong and Singapore Port.
The Sky Lucky handled 1,500 TEU in this voyage.
Kim Jong-gil, the marketing manager at IPA, said he entrance of an Ultra-Large type vessel means the status of Incheon Port has improved its position.?He went on to say that he wished that the larger facilities for Incheon New Port would finish construction as soon as possible so that they may accommodate ships larger than the Sky Lucky.
