NOL Christens 5,000-TEU 2 Containerships at Samsung Heavy Industries’
Shipyard
Neptune Orient Lines Ltd (NOL) is pleased to announce the christening
of two new 5,016 TEU post panamax containerships in Samsung Heavy Indu
stries(SHI) shipyard in South Korea. The vessels were christened on Tu
esday, 2 September 1997.
The two new post-panamax containerships, “NOL Agate” and “NOL Cypri
ne”, are fully cellular containerships and are equipped with the late
st maritime technology for efficient performance. They are capable of
operating at a speed of 24.5 knots. Both vessels are scheduled to be
delivered in September and December this year.
The newbuildings are part of the upgrade and renewal programme of NOL
’s fleet to enhance its competitive edge, improve its quality service
and the marine environment. This reflects NOL’s commitment to provi
de a comprehensive and quality global transportation service for its v
alued customers.
