Bibby & Harrison Form a Joint Ventureship Management Company

Two of Liverpool’s oldest and most respected shipowners, Bibby Line
Ltd. and Thos & Jas Harrison Ltd are to form a joint venture ship
management company, with effect from 1 October, 1997, to be known as
Bibby-Harrison Management Services Ltd.(BHMS)
The company will be based in Bibby’s Liverpool office as an
independent ISM accredited quality ship management service providing
a highly personalised and cost effective service for third party
tonnage.
BHMS will be owned on a 50-50 basis by Bibby and Harrison and employ
a total of 35 staff seconded from both companies under the direction
of two Joint Managing Directors, John Hopgarth of Bibby’s and John
Arkell of Harrisons. BHMS will commence with the management of an
initial fleet of some twenty-two vessels.
Collectively both companies have over 360 years of experience in
shipowning and by combining their joint resources and knowledge in
the management of bulk carriers, chemical carriers, container
vessels, gas carriers, coastals, self-elevating platforms and
floating storage units, are well qualified to provide personalised
and quality ship management services for third party tonnage as well
as continuing to provide technical management for Bibby and Harrion
owned and operated vessels.
In a joint statement, the two companies said:”By pooling our
resources in ship management we are creating a powerful new force
capable of handling a trmendously wide range of additional third
party contracts and increasing the amount of Liverpool maritime
business. We are confident that we shall attract new customers and
that our new partnership venture, which brings together years of
experience and technical expertise, will prove to be successful for
both our companies and for Merseyside.”
