Yellow Sea Ferry opens route for Mokpo - Xiamen
Yellow Sea Ferry, a subsidiary company of Seven Mountain Group, will open a liner service between Mokpo and Xiamen, China.
Yellow Sea Ferry will deploy a 7,000 tonne semi-container vessel in the route to transport Chinese stone and consumer goods in South Cheolla province 3 times a month in mid September.
The company intends to open a service for the International Stone Exhibition Logistic Town in Mokpo New Port, completing construction this year.
Yellow Sea Ferry expects that 700,000 tonnes, or 30 percent of all domestic imported stone cargoes (2.80 million tonnes), will be imported through Mokpo New Port, and some of the imported goods will be re-exported to Japan after value-added work is done.
An insider from Yellow Sea Ferry said, "We already completed a market inspection in Xiamen," and "plan to purchase another vessel soon."
Meanwhile, once Woobang Co., Ltd. and Mokpo International Stone Exhibition Logistic Town, which are subsidiary companies of Seven Mountain Group, contract for construction of the International Stone Exhibition Logistic Town construction can start.
Mokpo New Port, The first private capital in Korea, handles vehicles, stones especially, carried 1,400,000 ton cargoes for 10 months since it opened at last October.
An official from Mokpo City said, "70 companies including Chinese and domestic stone companies completed a resident request at the town, then creating 450 persons employ and will contribute to growth of Mokpo New Port".
