Inchon City opens first public CFS

Inchon City opened its first public Container Freight Station (CFS) as a local autonomous entity on July 18.

Last year, Inchon City had talks with freight forwarders and the Inchon chapter of KIFFA for logistics activation in Inchon. In these talks, freight forwarders raised their opinion that there was no CFS for deposit and separation of cargoes. Responding to their concerns, Inchon began efforts to establish the CFS.

For the CFS, Inchon leased warehousing space of 350 pyoung (1 pyoung is about 3.3 sq. m), a container yard (CY) of 908 pyoung and offices of 29 pyoung from Heung-A Shipping.

The CFS is located in 4 quay of Inchon port and managed by KIFFA.

An Inchon City official said, "The opening of the CFS will provide the proper conditions that we expect for LCL cargoes to be gathered in Inchon."

Inchon City will analyze results of the CFS, and plans to establish a second and third public CFS to raise competitiveness of logistics companies in Inchon.
