STX Pan Ocean holds naming ceremony for new 33,000 ton vessel
STX Pan Ocean held a naming ceremony for the 'STX Pioneer' at SHIN KOCHI dockyard in Japan on March 25. They ordered two 33,000 ton class timber carriers from SHIN KOCHI, a Japanese shipbuilder, in April of last year. The STX Pioneer has been built first.
The vessel is 170.8 meters long, 28.8 meters wide, 9.8 meters deep, and operates at 15.5 knots at full speed. STX Pan Ocean will take delivery of STX Pioneer on June 16, and operate it to transport timber from New Zealand and raw sugar from Australia.
President Lee Jong Chul of STX PAN Ocean and officials from the SHIN KOCHI dockyard attended the naming ceremony. Mrs. White of Queensland Sugar and CEO Ian White christened the vessel.
