[ Maersk Line Starts New Service ]
Between Europe and South Africa/Nambia
Commencing February 10th 1997(departure from the last port in
Europe), Maersk Line will be offering the shippers in the trade
between Europe/South Africa and Europe/Nambia a new fully
containerized service.
In South Africa the service will at Durban and Cape Town, and as the
first deep sea container line Maersk Line will introduce direct calls
at Walvis Bay, Nambia. Feedering and other oncarriage arrangements
have been established allowing Maersk Line to accept cargo to and
from a wide range of locations including Mozambique, Botswana,
Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Swaziland.
From Maersk Line’s own hub in Algeciras, South Spain, more than 30
weekly arrivals and departures provide onwards connection to all
locations in the unique global Maersk Line Network.
The service will be covered by 3 fast and modern container vessels.
The vessels are equipped with a high number of reefer plugs which
combined with Maersk Lines particular expertise in this field will
provide shippers of refrigerated cargo with a superior product.
