Record passage between China and Incheon
Passengers between Incheon and Chinese ports are hitting record numbers since services opened this year.
According to Incheon Regional Maritime & Fisheries Office on October 22, nine lines in the service transported 440,107 passengers, increasing 72% in September as compared with the same period of last year. The figure already surpassed the 369,399 passengers from last year and came close to the record in 2001.
The International Passengers' Terminal of Incheon Port is expected to see between 500,000 and 600,000 passengers this year.
Passengers in the service have increased thanks to 3 additional routes to Shidao, Yinkou, Qinhuangdao added since 2002.
An insider from Incheon Regional Maritime & Fisheries Office said, "We think that passengers largely increased because there weren't any serious obstacles like 'SARS' this year," and continued, "We will expand facilities at the terminal for better convenience of passengers."
