Hyundai group president, Hyun Jeong Eun, assigned a new director to HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine).
HMM held a general stockholders meeting and passed a resolution to select Hyun Jeong Eun as the new director with 200 stockholders attending at the company head office on March 23. The motion passed with 62.54% stockholder approval, with 37.4% opposing and 0.03% abstaining.
HMM now has 4 directors with the addition of Hyun Jeong Eun as president. The former president, Roh Jeong Ik, remains a director in the firm, Lee Jae Hyun, is the container business department chief and managing director, and Choi Kyung Ho is the vice-managing accounting director.
Meanwhile, KCC president Jeong Mong Jin's case wasn't discussed because Hyun was selected as a new director.
The new directorial position will decide on a representative director in a meeting soon. In the stockholders meeting, HMM also passed other matters including one on financial statements and a limit on remuneration for directors.
The financial statements approval was expected to pass without a vote under president Roh jeong Ik, the original meeting chair, but it passed with 79% approval and 24% opposed because Kim Moon Sung, managing director for a KCC representative, requested that it be put to a vote.
President Roh Jeong ik said in an address, "We are free from control by stock exchanges by getting independent accounting audits and this will increase our credit with both abroad and at home."
