Inchon airport builds 24 hour clearance system
Clearance times will be shortened with a 24 hour clearance system from the second half of this year.
Products worth less than 150,000 won will be tax free if they come through postal mail or the special cargo service system from next month. The current limit is 100,000 won.
Kim Yong Duk, the Director of Korea Customs Service, hosted the "Innovation in Import-Export Logistics" conference for government and industry and announced the roadmap for the clearance system February 13.
To build the new system, Korea Customs in cooperation with the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs plans to increase the number of clearance officers in Inchon Airport Customs from 155 to 254.
Cargoes through Inchon Airport are increasing and need to be processed quicker.
More good news for consumers is that special cargoes limits will be expanded to $100 from $60 without import declaration.
