Russian operator MCL called at Kwang Yang port for the first time.
Yeo-Su Regional Maritime and Fisheries announced that an MCL ship, the 'Cape Cleveland' called at Kwang Yang port February 11 with 128 TEU of cargo and returned to Vladivostok.
A 700~800 TEU class vessel that has previously only called at Pusan Port will also call at Kwang Yang Port once weekly. The ship will handle 300~400 TEU of cargoes between Kwang Yang and Vladivostok. Cargoes will be further transported by the TSR (Trans-Siberian Railroad) to elsewhere in Russia and Europe.
Meanwhile, Kwang Yang handled 119 thousand TEU, up 18.5% against the same period last year, thanks to the resuming of China Shipping's service. It is expected that Kwang Yang will develop well because of new callings and feeder services between Central & South America and the west coast of Japan.
