Gwangyang Port focus on port marketing
Gwangyang Port and the government are marketing the port to attract more cargoes next year.
To this, MOMAF held an explanatory meeting on a large scale targeting domestic and overseas investors, foreign Chamber of Commerce and Industry stationed in Korea and a diplomatic mission to attract multinational logistic companies to the hinterland of Gwangyang Port at the Coex Intercontinental Hotel December 17.
MOMAF will continue port marketing to attract cargoes for the hinterland of Gwangyang Port by targeting foreign investors including some in Japan.
Gwangyang City held a conference to stimulate the port with a public container corporation, and port operating companies December 19. Through the conference, the city judged slack business profits this year as due to failures to attract cargoes and planned strategies to secure cargoes.
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Port handled 1.17 million TEU containers (transshipment cargo 357 thousand TEU), far off the original goal of 1.5 million TEU. It is expected that handling for the year will only increase by 9% over last year.
