Revised bill for coastal cargo ship failure presented to National Assembly
The law wasn't presented in the National Assembly general meeting though the law for tax exception limitations to supply duty-free oil for coastal cargo ship was closely examined.
The Korea Shipping Association and coastal shipping businesses tried to get tax exemptions on fuel oil for use by coastal cargo ships in order to strengthen coastal shipping competitiveness. The National Assembly and Ministry of Finance & Economy admitted the necessity for and economic effect of tax-free oil supply for coastal cargo ships in the National Assembly Finance & Economy Committee November 20.
But the revised bill was abrogated because it was not presented for consideration to standing committee because the Ministry Finance & Economy worried about other industry sectors being opposed to it as a sort of unfair favoritism.
Though the KSA (Korea Shipping Association) and MOMAF (Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Fisheries) prepared to present the revised bill before the National Assembly for two and a half years, their net results so far seem to be ineffectual.
KSA/MOMAF deep research on costal shipping problems and growth has helped to sway the minds of various other ministries and committees, including the National Assembly Finance and Economy Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The KSA (Korea Shipping Association) and association members persuaded assemblymen to help solve coastal shipping problems, a stepping-stone for coastal shipping development.
